Daryl has recently retired from being coordinator of the final year of the OD program at the University of Melbourne and Clinic Director the University’s clinic, Melbourne Eyecare Clinic.

He has a keen interest in clinical optometry, undergraduate teaching and the role that optometry can play in primary health care. The main areas of clinical experience are the treatment of anterior eye disease and the visual sequalae of neurological impairments.

Since graduating from University of Melbourne in the late 1970’s, he has worked as a research officer, consulted in private practice and public clinics, provided undergraduate lectures and clinical teaching, and lectured at a variety of local and international conferences.

He has been intimately involved in multidisciplinary primary care, including being the first non GP to be a chair of a Division of General Practice.   Also, he is currently on the Optometry Board of Australia chairing the Scheduled Medicines Advisory Committee.
